First Time Booking a Cross-Border Car? 3 Things to Know Before You Go

First Time Booking a Cross-Border Car? 3 Things to Know Before You Go

First time taking a cross-border car between mainland China and Hong Kong? Here are the three questions we hear most often from new clients — answered without the fluff.

1. How Far in Advance Should I Book? Can I Change Plans?

We operate on a reservation system. Book at least one day ahead to guarantee availability. Last-minute bookings are possible but may face limited vehicle options or surcharges for emergency dispatch.

Once booked, if your plans change: notify us at least 3 hours before departure for a free time change or cancellation. Within 3 hours, changes are restricted — our drivers are already en route or preparing for your trip.

2. How Do I Book? How Is the Price Calculated?

Search "CloudStar Travel" on WeChat Mini Program. Enter your route, date, time, and number of passengers. The system calculates your price instantly — no manual quoting, no haggling.

What's included in the price: border tolls, tunnel fees, parking, driver service. The total you see at checkout is the total you pay. No mid-trip surcharges. Company invoice available for business travelers.

After booking, you receive: a dedicated service group chat (WeChat), real-time order status tracking, driver name and license plate before pickup. No need to call anyone to confirm — the system handles it.

3. What Happens at the Border?

This is the part that worries most first-timers. Here's exactly how it works:

Step 1: The car arrives at the checkpoint. The driver will brief you on what to do at that specific port.

Step 2: You get out with your documents. Walk through the passenger immigration channel (5–10 minutes).

Step 3: The car goes through the vehicle channel. At Shenzhen Bay heading into Hong Kong, your luggage can stay in the vehicle — you don't need to carry it. At other checkpoints, luggage comes with you.

Step 4: After immigration, the car is waiting at the designated pickup area. Get back in and continue to your destination.

Special cases: Elderly passengers or those with mobility issues can apply for a priority lane to stay in the vehicle during immigration — just mention this when booking.
